Creating my website, “Vienna and the Midwest,” was fun and a challenge at the same time, as posts had to be both in German and in English.
And, of course, I wanted to have proper English on my website. So I looked for an American native speaker on the internet who would proofread my writing.
For years, this system worked great. I got to know new people, and at the same time, my English improved a lot.
In all these years, I learned that simply translating posts word for word would undermine the characteristics typical of the chosen language. May it be in German or English.
And then the talk about AI started. Not knowing what it was, I read about it and what it could do. After having tried out several writing tools that would help me with my English posts, I finally decided to use QuillBot, as I prefer writing an article first by myself and only then getting it checked by the software. All the other tools, like paraphrasing, etc., made it a joy to write posts in English.
And: I had more time for conversational English. Proofreading and going through a file was fun, but letting AI proofread and use the saved time for conversational English is a great combination.
